TANZANIAN RAINS

The rains in Tanzania fall from December to May, but there are large fluctuations in the amount. In 2006, the lack of rain left millions of Tanzanians near starvation and it affected the wildlife upon which the country's tourist industry is based. Last year, the BBC News reported that the king of Thailand was sending a team of experts to the drought-prone nation to demonstrate and teach Tanzanians on rain-making technology, in particular cloud seeding. Dee Ann Pederson traveled to Tanzania after the rainy season to capture these images, which show the importance of water to wildlife.
